As part of the global campaign, Medcare Hospital organized a special ‘World Diabetes Day” on 14th of November to all its visitors in an effort to create awareness of the disease. The program consisted of Free Blood Sugar testing from 9 AM till 4 PM followed by a seminar on Diabetes by Dr. Mohammed Salah Mohammed and a few giveaways were distributed to the patients as well. Additionally, in support of the World Diabetes cause all Staff at the Medcare Hospital wore badges and armbands with the World Diabetes Day logo while some even wore blue dresses to express their solidarity to the event.
Dr. Mohammed Salah Mohammed said, “We are very happy to host the World Diabetes Day and offer our support to the community of Dubai by creating awareness about this silent killer. It is estimated that more than 180 million people worldwide have diabetes according to a 2005 census and is estimated to double by 2030 without intervention. In order to prevent diabetes, it’s important for a person to alter their lifestyle towards making healthier choices and it’s never too late to start. Physical activity lowers blood sugar and boosts your sensitivity to insulin — which helps keep your blood sugar within a normal range and helps reduce the risk of diabetes.
